The Kiwanis Club of Cambridge is a very active club providing time, energy and money to our local community, and selected national and international projects. We have a very dedicated team of members willing to join in all sorts of activities to help others in need. Listed below are a few of our primary projects;
Key Clubs – Our Kiwanis Club sponsors 2 KEY Clubs (Kiwanis Educating Youth) for high school students. These clubs are versions of our own club holding weekly meetings, developing fundraising events and providing service to the community. Our club members provide counsel and guidance through attending their meetings and supporting their functions. Click here for photo's...
4–H Calf Club – Our Kiwanis Club has had an association with our local agricultural association for 50 years. This provides Kiwanians the opportunity to visit the farms of local children that show their calves at the Cambridge Fall Fair. In November, club members host the 4-H awards program by inviting the children and their families to a luncheon shared with the Kiwanians. We also have a special Kiwanis luncheon hosted by a local farmer is also held in June of each year as part of this longtime friendship. Click here for photo's...
Cambridge Kiwanis Boys’ Choir – For more than 25 years our club has sponsored this very talented group of boys by providing funds to enable them to travel to sing and assist with fundraising for their programs. This Choir has gained an international reputation bearing the name of our Kiwanis Club of which we are very proud.
Cambridge Kiwanis Village Non Profit Housing - We manage and operate 3 non profit housing sites in Cambridge. Most recently, The “Bridges” Homeless Shelter – Our Kiwanis Club has been very instrumental in working with the Cambridge Shelter Corporation and the Cambridge Kiwanis Village Non-Profit Housing Corporation to design and fundraise for a much needed homeless shelter. Cambridge Kiwanis Non Profit Housing manages and operates the Transitional Apartment Units inside of the shelter.
296 Air Cadet Squadron – Again our association with this group of young men and women goes back to its beginnings in 1943. The squadron, a part of the Department of National Defence, consists of 75 to 100 cadets, between the ages of 12 and 19. Our club assists financially to help with the costs of camps, training programs, equipment, trips, etc. and many Kiwanians enjoy attending their functions such as their Wings Parade and band performances.
Bursary Program – Our club provides 3 bursaries to local high school students who are going on to further education to assist in their tuition. A committee looks at several criteria such as grades, character, participation in school and community and financial need. These are presented to three successful candidates in June of each year. Young Children Priority One – Each year our club sponsors a project in the community to benefit children between the ages of 0 to 5 years. Examples of these projects are the “Little Rascals” at a local pre-school or “Tender Toochies” project to provide diapers to the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank.
Cambridge Memorial Hospital – Annually in June our club holds a fundraiser for our local hospital providing donated lunches to local businesses under a “tent” at the hospital or by delivery. All proceeds go to the hospital to purchase a piece of much needed equipment.
